John Trabert is a lifelong resident of Amherst, growing up in Eggertsville alongside his seven siblings. From a young age, he learned the values of hard work, community, and service—principles that have guided him throughout his life and career.
John’s strong foundation began in Amherst, where he attended St. Benedict School and graduated from Amherst Central High School in 1981. He continued his education at ECC North and SUNY College at Brockport, preparing him for a life dedicated to public service.
John also proudly served 10 years in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to protecting and defending his country.
With 30 years of experience in law enforcement, John has worked tirelessly to ensure public safety and uphold justice. His career includes:

John is a lifelong Republican who believes in fiscal responsibility, government transparency, and protecting individual freedoms.
Married to his wife Maura for 34 years, they raised their four daughters in Amherst, instilling in them the same values of hard work and integrity. John is also a proud grandfather, further deepening his commitment to ensuring Amherst remains a strong, thriving community for future generations.
